It was a time when history became legend
The Greco Persian War 2500 years ago was the greatest war in history, a clash of cultures and continents, and the first major conflict between East and West.
It is also one of the most studied periods in history and yet is still shrouded in mystery. What really happened at the Battle of Marathon, what was the real trigger for the battle? And did Leonidas, the fabled warrior King of Sparta, really commit some form of ritual suicide at Thermopylae? What happened after the dust settled at Thermopylae? Who were the real heroes of the war?
For the first time we are going to present the full story of the greatest war of all time, every major event, every major detail. Nothing will be left out. We will shed new light on some of the most iconic moments in history. We will subject some of the legends and myths of this period to the test of logic and see and see which ones stand up, and which fall.
There are so many what ifs about this period, so many turning points in history that it is hard to start naming them, but one thing is certain, it was a titanic clash and neither side was going to back down. The Greek victory led to a golden age for Greece producing a legacy that is felt everywhere in the world today, 2500 years later.
